Christian Thirion

Christian Thirion trained as a pastry chef in his native France. He traveled to Venice and Barcelona where he marveled at the sight of individuals gathering, blowing, and shaping hot, glowing glass. In 1979 he moved to the United States to teach pastry. Yet, he never forgot about glass. Finally, in 1987, he enrolled in a glass-blowing course at a community college. He had found his calling. Thirion left pastry to pursue glass blowing full-time.

The fluidity of his shapes, his innovative use of colors and textures, combines with these varied motifs define Christian Thirion’s personal style. An award-winning glassblower, he exhibits his work in over one hundred art galleries, as well as public and private collections throughout the United States, Japan, and Europe.
