Georgia and Joseph Pozycinski

Using cast glass and bronze, Georgia and Joseph Pozycinski create sculptural work that is simple yet complex, familiar yet provocative, modern yet hinting at glimpses of an ancient culture. Working together in their Missouri studio, Georgia carves the small details of the sculptures using quiet, simple tools while Joseph works with bigger strokes, wielding metal hammers and welders, running the furnaces and the hydraulic press. The collaboration is one of technical skills and aesthetic sensibilities.

Joseph’s background in engineering and technology and Georgia’s background in marine biology and zoology create a union of creative energies. In the Pozycinski’s collaborative sculpture, you can see the artists’ engagement of past with the present, of organic form with inorganic medium. Their work is an expression of the timeless human need to cast itself in some lasting form of natural serene beauty.
