Cheryl Takacs
Cheryl holds undergraduate degrees in English and Art History.
Upon graduating from the Hot Glass program at Sheridan College,
she took several Glass blowing workshops to further hone her craft.
After 12 years in the profession Cheryl was joined by her husband
Jean-Marc Leclair (also a skilled glass blower). Together, their work
has been included in many exhibitions, both in Ontario and as far
away as Hong Kong.
A combination of hand-blown glass and meticulous sand-blasted
designs make Cheryl Takacs’ pieces truly one of a kind. The soul of
her glass speaks of color. The palate and designs express the
influence of music and visual stimulus absorbed from the
environment.
Because all of Cheryl’s pieces are unique, handmade works of art,
subtle irregularities are to be expected and prized for the unique
qualities they express. The designs are drawn on the work
freehand using a liquid resist, which allows them to evolve naturally
and offers an endless variety of detail.
