Andrea Dasha Reich
Andrea Dasha Reich was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1946 to an
artist mother and lawyer, political activist father. Her Prague home was
filled with original artworks by family and friends. This rich environment
inspired her career in art and design.
Her family relocated to Israel in 1960 where she began her personal art
exploration at a kibbutz. Supportive instructors sent her to study under
modernists Moshe Rosenthalis and Yosse Stern at the Bezalel Academy of
Art in Jerusalem.
Dasha moved to New York City in 1966 where she studied photography
and worked in the textile and fashion design industry where her work
was acknowledged with many industry awards. She also designed her own
boutique and fashion line for Madison Avenue. Through all of this
commercial success she dreamed of returning to her personal painting.
The 1990’s led Dasha back to her fine art roots and she began to develop
a unique personal style. Incorporating her talent and vision for color,
texture and pattern with traditional and non traditional mediums Dasha
creates bold, Murano glass-like paintings that are celebrations of color,
movement and light. “I find my inspiration from the original source of all
textures, patterns, colors and contrasts- the natural world,” says the
artist. You will see river currents, spiraling galaxies, river stone and flora
silhouette images in her vibrant montages of design.
Dasha had her first one woman exhibition in a SOHO gallery in 1997 which
launched her career as a fine artist. She and her husband moved to
Sarasota, FL in 2001 where she continues to create her dynamic luminous
paintings that are shown in numerous galleries and collected
internationally.
