John Leighton
John is an artist, designer and educator who has worked with glass& for more than
27 years. He received his BA in Environmental Design and MA in Glass from
California State University, Fullerton and his M.F.A. in Sculpture from the California
College of Arts and Crafts, in Oakland.
John has been Head of the Glass Program at San Francisco State University for 22
years. He has been a guest instructor at numerous schools including C.C.A.C. in
Oakland, the Pilchuck School in Stanwood, Washington and the Tokyo Glass Art
Institute in Japan.
John's cast and blown glass sculpture are exhibited in Europe, the U.S. and Asia.
Currently his work is exhibited in private galleries in more did 30 states and in
many private and public collections including the Smithsonian Institution's National
Museum of Art, the Oakland Museum, the City of Mill Valley, the Ebeltoft
Glasmuseum in Denmark, the Lemberk Castle Museum, in the Czech Republic, the
Notojima Glass Museum, the Tokyo Glass Art Institute and the Kanazu Art Museum
in Japan.
