Jamali
Jamali is the creator of the most innovative surfaces in the history of art, in
fact, the most highly original artist to emerge in our time. He has a unique
faculty for creating new styles and techniques in painting. These innovations
are decisive new steps in art history that push the limits of imaginative
frontiers. Jamali's methods of painting with his feet, outdoors, and working
with the elements over long periods of time, pushes the technical and
expressive limits of these materials. To understand the significance of
Jamali's materials is to understand how the materials are inseparable from
the meaning of the works.
There is a perennial theme in Jamali's work of an inner search that is
expressed in the triumphal and mythic imagery originating from his dream
life. Tied to this theme is another important theme; the expression of the
mystical experience and the scientific experience (the theories of quantum
mechanics) as essentially the same; this gives rise to a new mythology. Jamali
ritualizes this new mythology by dancing the paintings in the midst of the
